Develop emergency response behaviors for the MDS (Mobile/Dexterous/ Social) robots for victim search and rescue. The approaches were designed for the uBot-5 at Umass and ported to the Nexi robot at MIT Media Lab.

This project is to implement search behaviors for multi-type agents, including uBot-5 robot and PTZ camera sensor array, and to develop new approaches to multi-agent coordination in exploration and object search.

The design and implementation of a multi-modal wireless sensor network for elder care applications. The system monitors the elderly users in their residence and provides a set of assisted living and emergency monitoring applications.

In this project I developed and released an Arm-linux driver for Yale camera sensor (Enalab Camera) on Intel Mote 2 platform (PXA270). Based on this work, I designed and implemented a dual-camera wireless sensor platform by combining the Enalab camera sensor and the Cyclops camera sensor.

User friendly software for elderly users: Video Phone Application: based on Skype SDK Email client software based on JavaMail API. This is a cooperative work with social scientists in Smith College to investigate the usability of software and UI design for elderly users. Those softwares are used in Amherst Senior Center, MA.

This project is to build a surveillance data retrieval system for VStar, which is an intelligent urban traffic monitoring and management system developed by CASIA (Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences). In this project I developed approaches for real-time multi-vehicle tracking, traffic pattern analysis and semantic-based traffic data retrieval.

Cooperated with Beijing QQ Technology Co.,Ltd.; participated in developing QQ80, a high-speed network switch chipset. Wrote simulation code to verify the network traffic control approach and scheduling algorithm.
